Game 4 -- Sharks win again
What can you say, Logan was on fire! With a bunch of steals and a few fine moves Logan led the Sharks to a 22-15 victory over the Bearcats with 14 points. The Sharks led at halftime 10-7 and then hit some key outside shots in the second half in the win. Jack and Nate both added four points for the Sharks. The Sharks opened in a 1-3-1 zone and it was working good but the Bearcats made an adjustment so the Sharks switched to a 2-3. Next week teams can start playing man-to-man defense so we will work on that in practice this week as well as an offense against man-to-man. Way to attack and have fun Sharks!

Sharks win

The Sharks used a good combination of players in defeating the Mavericks 21-14 in their first game of division play this season. The Sharks got off to a good start and led at halftime 12-6. Pressure defense and good rebounding in the first half was impressive. They continued to expand on the lead into the second half before the Mavericks cut into the lead. But a basket by Nate and a free throw by JT got the Sharks chomping again. The use of a 1-3-1 zone defense really boosted the Sharks. In a couple of weeks we can start running a man-to-man defense so we will start working on that in practice too. Jack and Nate led the team with six points each. JT added three while Bret, Brendan and Joey each scored two. Brendan made a very unselfish pass to Nate for a basket, Logan made some tremendous hustling plays on defense while Sam, Jake and Skyler did a great job hustling after rebounds. Go Sharks!

Game 2
The Sharks ran into a good shooting Hornets team in a 26-14 loss. The game was 10-6 at halftime in the Hornets favor when they got hot from the field. They threw in a halfcourt shot at the end of the game to take the 12-point win. Brendan and J.T. both had four points to lead the Sharks. Jack, Logan and Sam each scored a basket. Logan was injured at the end of the third quarter and had to sit out much of the fourth quarter. Hopefully he will be healed up for next week. I'm so proud of the efforts of the boys. They keep improving each week. They are playing defense the right way and also running the plays very well. We will find out on Tuesday what # of team we are for the rest of the schedule so I should know at practice on Tuesday night and I will email and call as well. I asked to be placed in the upper middle of the league. Thanks parents for keeping it fun for the boys. I'm having a blast!

First Game
The team's first game was against the Jayhawks on a nice Saturday afternoon in January. The Sharks got off to quick start and led at halftime 8-6. They kept the pressure on in the second half but would fall 18-16. Scoring went like this: Jack 6, Nate 4, Logan 2, Brendan 2, Joey 2. What a great first performance. Good job guys!

Returning players include Jack, Logan, Nate, J.T., Bret, Sam, Joey and Skyler. This team looks like it has what it takes to be a champion.

Logan -- The quickest cat on the team "Roy" is the leader at point guard.
Nate -- Provides quite a spark on both the offensive and defensive ends
J.T. -- A tenacious rebounder, J.T. is a force on the boards.
Sam -- Always with a smile on his face, Sam has made the most improvement of any player in his game leading into this season.

Skyler -- At first glance he might seem shy but Skyler knows had to mix it up when setting screens or going to the hoop strong for two.
Brendan -- A new addition at guard, Brendan will be one of the team leaders in steals when it is all said and done.
Jake -- A dominating force inside the paint, Jake will be a tough force to get past if the opponent hopes to score.
