Sam's Poem

Sam wrote this great poem about the team and read it at the post-season party! Thanks so much Sam. You are so talented.

"This poem is for the Sharks b-ball team,
Just look at our coach's faces beam.

When Sam and Jake do the big boy play,
Those scrawny kids better stay out of the way.

Jack, Brendan & Joey can really score,
The other team might as well walk out the door.

Bret gets the rebound and shoots it fast,
Never giving the other team a chance to get past.

We all try our hardest in basketball,
Especially Roy when he takes a fall.

When it comes to a fast break, Nate is the best,
To the other teams, he is just a pest.

When J.T. and Skyler's hands are in the air,
Just try to get a shot around them if you dare!

Whenever we win, we cheer and we strut,
But learn from our loss when they kick our butt!

Thank you coach Bill and coach Brian,
You both are the BEST and we're not lyin'!

Final game

In the final game of the year, :o(, the Sharks lost to the Magic 22-16. Probably my favorite part was before the game when we normally put our hands together and say, "Go Sharks", they wanted to say "Have fun". How cool! The Magic led at the half 12-6 so it was an even second half. Logan and Brendan were the only Sharks to score in the game as they both had eight points. Jack missed the game due to an infected hand while Nate was sick. It was tough not to have a full team in the last game. Probably the most fun for me was watching them play man to man defense in the second quarter. We had worked on it in practice and I decided to just them go for it and I was more than pleased and I let them know that. These kids are very important to me (if you can't tell) and I will think of them a lot while we aren't playing. I can't wait until next year!

Thanks everyone for a great year! Go Sharks!

Sharks battle

The Sharks ran into a team with much more size in a 31-26 loss to the Celtics in action Sunday afternoon at Lefler. The Sharks led at halftime 16-10 but couldn't overcome the size in the second half on the boards, but they still played excellent defense. Logan battled foul trouble all day and had to sit out most of the first half. Joey led the team with eight points on excellent outside shooting. JT, Logan, Bret and Nate all scored four points while Brendan added two. Jack and Skyler missed the game while Sam and Jake did a great job rebounding inside and just missed a couple of shots. The final game is next week with a big party to follow. Be ready! Go Sharks!

Game 6 -- Sharks Win

The Sharks held off a last 10 second barrage of shots in a 20-18 win over the Rockets Saturday afternoon at Lefler. The Sharks got off to a quick start but trailed at the half 10-8 against a much taller team. But in the second half the Sharks started to make some great passes and rebound better out of a 2-3 zone defense to get the win. The defense out front drove their guards (and their coach) crazy, good job. Just six players were at the game so the Sharks good conditioning program came into play. Amazingly JT, Jack, Logan, Bret and Nate all scored four points in the game. Sam did a tremendous job of rebounding and also just missed a couple of quick shots. Thanks also go to Jack's dad for helping coach on the bench. With just two games left the Sharks are looking to end the season on a roll.

Game 5

The Sharks, thanks to JT, got off to a quick start but would lose their first game in division play 24-22 to the Ducks. JT was a madman on both the boards and scoring in the first half as the Sharks led 10-8 at halftime. Logan controlled the halfcourt defensively in the second half as he had numerous steals on their guards. Logan led the team with 10 points, JT added 6 while Bret, Brendan and Jack each added 2. Bret's basket was on a nice turnaround jumper from Big Boy play. I couldn't be more prouder of all of the boys. We ran all of our offenses and our defenses great and we hustled, attacked and most importantly had fun. If you ever are watching me you probably see a big smile on my face a lot of the time especially when the boys are having fun. Sam missed the game due to the flu and we are excited to have him back next week. I'm still trying to switch the gametime for the game on Feb. 17. Other coaches in the league aren't being very cooperative but hopefully something will still work out.
